Biography

Megha Mahendra is a photojournalist and writer from Bangalore, India. She holds a BA (Honours) in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London (UAL).

Her practice sits at the intersection of people, place and change. It is grounded in a quiet curiosity about how inner and outer worlds reflect, mirror and transform one another. Raised at philosopher J. Krishnamurti’s school has shaped her worldview, grounding her in inquiry, self-awareness, and sensitivity to the human condition. This philosophical foundation, rooted in existential thought and spirituality informs both her photography and writing, lending her work a sense of clarity, stillness, and a reflective depth.

Drawn to the subtleties of human psychology, cultural memory and the textures of daily life, she explores the spaces where personal and collective narratives begin to blur. Her subjects and ways of seeing may be expansive, but her gaze remains constant: thoughtful, intimate and unhurried. She approaches both minute details and complex systems with the same depth of attention, guided by a deep sensitivity to how people live, feel and make meaning in their environments.

Megha's unique vision and storytelling reflects a quiet search for truth — one that begins with an ongoing journey to understand the self and, through that knowledge, the world around her.

Work

At the heart of Megha’s work is a desire to listen: to people, places, and the often-unspoken rhythms of life.

Her documentary work explores themes of sustainability, ecology, social justice, animal welfare, and human relationship with land and self. Whether capturing farmers at dawn or tracing how people move through systems that shape their time, bodies, and sense of place, she navigates the spaces where transformation is slow, quiet, and deeply felt.

Through images, text and research, she seeks to connect the natural world with the human experience, reveling in the interconnectedness of all things.

She has worked in press photography and news writing in London, covering cultural events and celebrations. This experience sharpened her instincts for both immediacy and depth, helping her craft narratives that are as present as they are timeless.

In every frame and every word, she searches for the subtle place where the human and the more-than-human meet — and where both are changed by the encounter.
