Biography

Megha Mahendra is an aspiring photojournalist and writer from Bangalore, India. She graduated with a BA (Honours) in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London (UAL) in 2024. Megha’s work is deeply influenced by India’s rich cultural heritage, drawing inspiration from its diverse traditions, landscapes, and people. Growing up at philosopher J. Krishnamurti’s school has profoundly shaped her worldview, aiding the unique lens through which she approaches both photography and writing. This philosophical foundation, rooted in spirituality and existential inquiry, imbues her work with a sense of introspection, clarity and depth. Megha’s creative and human centric vision reflects her unique perspective and her ongoing journey to understand the self and, through that knowledge, the world around her.

Work

Through visual storytelling, Megha asks concrete questions about our existence, fueled by her ever-growing curiosity and steadfast commitment to justice and equity. Addressing the themes of sustainability, ecology, sociology, animal welfare, and social and humanitarian issues, her work explores the nuanced and intricate layers of human nature and how we, as a species, relate to our surroundings. Megha's ideas gravitate towards the dynamic interplay between humans and the spaces we occupy, ultimately investigating how we encounter ourselves in the world.

Through her documentary photos, research and written pieces, she seeks to connect the natural world with the human experience, reveling in the interconnectedness of all things.

Megha also has a penchant for news writing and press photography, with a year long on ground experience of documenting news, festivals and celebrations in London, along with image research, culling and editing, organisation, captioning and news writing.
